FAQ
What age can my child start playing?
Children can start playing from the age of 5 in the Small Sided Football (SSF) format. They will be placed in a team of children around their own age and of mixed ability depending on numbers of registrations. Occasionally, they will be placed in an older team, but only after assessment by our experienced assessors.
Where and when do they play?
Teams play a mix of home and away games usually in the local area for the younger players with a bit more travelling involved for older teams. Games are played Saturday (SSF teams and most older teams), Sundays and occasionally Friday nights for older teams.
What about training?
Training is decided on Muster day by discussing with your team members the best available day and times. SSF usually train once a week for 1 hour, older teams can vary according to team requirements.
Who coaches my child?
A coach is selected by the parents from amongst the parents at Muster day and everyone is encouraged to volunteer either as a coach or as Manager. Both are rewarding positions and you don’t have to have any experience as we have plenty of people available to answer questions and assist you. If you do take up a position then you will be required to apply for a BLUE CARD www.ccypcg.qld.gov.au (for information) and applications are available from the club.
What do I need to bring/provide?
For sign-on of new players a birth certificate is required and all players must pay registration costs in FULL at sign-on – see registration information below for more information. Junior players U12 and up must also provide a passport sized photo of head and shoulders.
The club supplies playing jerseys and parents are asked to supply shorts, socks, shinguards, boots and a training ball along with a water bottle. All of these are available from Five Star Sports at Browns Plains. Just tell the friendly staff who you play for and our Club Sponsor will be more than happy to help. We also have club shirts available to purchase at $25 each. Everyone is encouraged to wear these in support of your club – players (to and from games), parents, grandparents, coaches and mangers, brothers and sisters!!
